Chipolopolo Zambia striker Fashion Sakala will for now put behind his domestic cup heartbreak in Scotland after Glasgow Rangers advanced to the knockout round of the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League.

Rangers beat visiting Czech club Sparta Prague 2-0 on Thursday’s night in their penultimate Group A match.

While Fashion only played the last nine minutes of the match after the job was already done by his teammates, it will be great news overall following last Sunday’s Scottish League Cup 3-1 semifinal loss to Hibernian.

Rangers join runaway Group A leaders Olympique Lyon of France in the last 16 with a match to spare on 7 and 15 points respectively.

Sparta are third on 4 points, but with an inferior goal difference to Rangers, while Danish club Brondby are bottom on 2 points.

Thursday’s result also saw Rangers win their first competitive game under new coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst who began his tenure with Sunday’s Cup defeat.

Rangers are in domestic action on November 28 when the Scottish champions’ visit 10th placed Livingstone.
