Nigerian star Emmanuel Dennis was pleased after equaling a Watford FC record in the English Premier League with a goal against Chelsea FC.
The speedy attacker scored what proved to be the Hornets’ consolation goal as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night.
Therefore, Dennis became the first Watford player to score in three Premier League games in a row since February 2017 – emulating Troy Deeney.
“I’m really proud of the team because we played really well,. The result is unfortunate, they were lucky to take the three points,” Dennis told the club’s official website.
“The intensity was good and we’re slowly understanding the way the manager wants us to play. We can see the progress in how we play so I’m really proud of the team.
“We just need to keep working hard and the results will come.”
It was the 24-year-old’s sixth goal so far as he continues to enjoy a great debut campaign in England and becomes the Hornet’s leading goalscorer this season.
“I knew if I tried to shoot he was going to open his legs and I was lucky to score in the end. I’m happy with the goal but in the end we didn’t get the three points,” he added.
“I’m just doing my job, I’m really happy I’m here and I’m enjoying being part of the team. I’m training well and being positive, and I’m really happy.”
