Sundowns, AmaZulu drop points in DStv Premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu FC and Maritzburg United dropped points in the DStv Premiership on Saturday.


Sundowns fought back to hold Stellenbosch FC to a 1-1 draw in an entertaining match which was played at the Danie Craven Stadium


The draw saw Stellies and Masandawana remain fourth and at the top of league standings respectively with Lyle Lakay having cancelled out Junior Mendieta’s opening goal.


Meanwhile, AmaZulu were held to a 0-0 draw by Royal AM in the DStv Premiership match in a game which took place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday afternoon.


The draw saw Usuthu remain eighth on the league standings, while Thwihli Thwahla climbed up to second place on the log – leapfrogging Kaizer Chiefs.


While Lamontville Golden Arrows made it back-to-back wins as they held on for a 2-1 victory over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.


The Chill Boys scored through Eva Nga Bienvenu, while Michael Gumede and Pule Mmodi scored for Abafana Bes’thende as they clinched all three points and Arrows climbed up to ninth place on the log, while Chippa slipped down to 13th place.


Lastly, Swallows FC fought back to hold Maritzburg United to a 1-1 draw in game which was played at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday afternoon.


Therefore, Amaswaiswai and the Team of Choice remained 16th and 11th respectively on the league standings as Wandisile Letlabika cancelled out Bongokuhle Hlongwane’s opening goal in Soweto.
