Zanaco have scraped through to the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup group stage after losing 2-0 away in Mali to Binga FC.
The Zambian club advanced to next February’s group stage 3-2 on aggregate after beating the Malians 3-0 in the first leg at home in Lusaka on November 5.
Both goals in Bamako on Sunday night came in the last ten minutes of the match.
Youssouf Diallo put Binga ahead in the 81st minute and the hosts later won a stoppage time penalty that was converted by Youssouf Coulibaly.
Meanwhile, Zanaco will be making their fourth group stage appearance in continental competition.
The Lusaka club is also the only Zambian side through to this season’s league phase of continental competition.
Zambia’s perennial group stage campaigners Zesco United made a first round exit from the CAF Champions League together with Kabwe Warriors in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Red Arrows were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday despite beating Simba SC of Tanzania 2-0 in Lusaka but exited after a 3-2 aggregate loss.
