Chelsea’s Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech has explained that he appreciates manager Thomas Tuchel’s blunt honesty.
Ziyech has seen more playing time of late for the Blues, though he would have been disappointed at their 3-2 loss against London rivals West Ham United this past weekend.
Nonetheless, the former Ajax man has explained that he always knows exactly where stands in Tuchel’s pecking order and why he is – or is not – given a starting role by the German tactician.
“I think I’m one of Chelsea’s best eleven. But a manager chooses his team game by game, and he decides what he needs,” Ziyech is quoted by Tribal Football.
“It’s up to me to show him that I should be playing, and I think I’m on the right track now.”
On his relationship with Tuchel, he continued: “It’s as a player and coach should have. If there’s anything he’ll tell you. And if he finds something, he says it too. You don’t always have to agree, of course.
“From the moment he came in he has been sincere. Whether it’s in my favour or not, I’d rather you be sincere than try to do it some other way. He has always been sincere and I appreciate that more than you do it any other way.”
Ziyech will hope to star for Chelsea when they wrap up their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign with a match away to Zenit St. Petersburg on Wednesday night.
