Nkana and Power Dynamos collected dramatic victories in their respective Wednesday league fixtures ahead of Sunday’s big Kitwe derby.

Power and Nkana both rallied against Kansanshi Dynamos and Buildcon respectively to win by the same 2-1 scoreline.

At Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Power came from one-down at halftime to beat ten man Kansanshi to secure their fifth straight league win.

Bruce Musakanya put Kansanshi ahead in the 41st minute but the visitors headed into the break with the burden of playing the remainder of the match with ten men after Girese Muyumba was sent off for a second booking in the 44th minute.

Power seized the opportunity with both hands to mount a comeback and snatch the victory before the hour mark thanks to a Kilonje Mwepu brace in the 56th and 59th minutes.

Meanwhile, Nkana were away in Ndola where two stoppage time goals saw the steal the three points off Buildcon at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Tapson Kaseba headed in Zephaniah Phiri’s corner in the 31st minutes in a period Nkana were second best.

Kaseba could have added a second goal in the 54th minute but miscued his header in front of an inviting goalmouth.

Buildcon would later pay for their lack of ruthlessness when Nkana found cracks in the hosts defence.

Laison Thole fired in the equaliser when he beat the offside trap to fire in a fine pass from Jacob Ngulube in the 90th minute.

Four minutes later, an unmarked Bwalya Kasonde pounced on a poorly cleared corner to curl in the ball to give Nkana a massive lift ahead of their December 12 derby showdown at home against Power.
