Werder Bremen star Felix Agu has made it known that he is open to playing for Nigeria having turned out for Germany Under-21.
The 22-year-old defender was born to a Nigerian father in Germany and he previously turned down an approach from the Nigeria Football Federation.
Agu did so in order to play for the European country’s youth team and he played twice for Germany between 2019 and 2020.
The promising full-back has now disclosed that he will consider switching his international allegiance to Nigeria having become a regular for Bremen this season.
“I haven’t heard anything for a long time. Maybe it will come again. At that time I cancelled the Nigerian federation because I wanted to go to the German U21s first,” Agu told Deich Stube.
“Up until then I had never been to the national team and I wanted to get used to it first.
“Now my time with the U21 is over. But it wasn’t a decision against Nigeria, it was a decision that I should keep my familiar surroundings. Now I am open to the topic.”
Agu has played 13 matches in the German Bundesliga Two for Bremen this season and he also featured in 15 games in the Bundesliga last season.
