Coach Mumamba Numba hopes that this is a turning point for Zesco United after collecting back-to-back league wins over the last week for only the second time this season.

The defending FAZ Super League champions on Saturday beat Nkwazi 1-0 at home in Ndola just days after posting the same score line on December 8 away to Lusaka Dynamos.

Zesco’s victory over Nkwazi lifted the champions from sixth to second on the log on 24 points.

The Ndola club is now six points behind leaders Green Buffaloes after 14 and 16 games played respectively.

“We have struggled in the last few games but picking back-to-back wins will give us morale as we play Red Arrows on Wednesday,” Numba said.

The last time Zesco managed to garner back-to-back league wins was in their opening two fixtures this season last September when they beat Chambishi 2-0 at home and Indeni away by the same margin.

Since then, Zesco have recorded a scattering of three wins, three draws and four defeats in the subsequent ten matches.

“We need to be consistent if we are to defend the Championship. We have to work on our objective,” Numba said.

Meanwhile, Zesco host Red Arrows this Wednesday in a rescheduled Week 13 fixture in which they will be hoping to record their third successive win for the first time this season.
