Zanaco’s six-match catch-up race continues on Wednesday when they visit promoted Kansanshi Dynamos at Independence Stadium in Solwezi.

There is no Christmas for the 2020/2021 FAZ Super League runners-up as they start to clear their backlog that came about due to their recent continental obligations.

Zanaco are Zambia’s sole continental survivors after qualifying to next February’s 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

However, Zanaco’s domestic form has been patchy and they sit at the top half of the relegation zone at number 15 on 17 points from thirteen games played and are two points behind 12th placed Kansanshi who have played fifteen matches.

The pressure is on Zanaco who have picked up just a win from their first two games of their six- game backlog with three very tough games to come after Wednesday.

It started off promisingly for Zanaco with a 1-0 home win over Chambishi on December 9 just 48 hours after arriving from Mali where they had just wrapped up their CAF Confederation Cup group stage qualification but four days later lost 1-0 away to Indeni.

After the Kansanshi game, Zanaco have a big home date against defending FAZ Super League champions Zesco United on December 19 in Lusaka.

Zanaco will then play two successive away matches starting with a Lusaka derby against Red Arrows on December 22 and a Midlands derby at Kabwe Warriors on December 29.
