Al Ahly manager Pitso Mosimane has expressed his gratitude at being awarded the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) best club coach in Africa for 2021.
The South African was singled out after guiding Ahly to successive CAF Champions League titles, as well as a bronze medal at the last edition of the Club World Cup.
“I’m so honoured to have received this award and ranking. Thank you to Ranking IFFHS for the award. I’d like to thank my technical team Al Ahly, the players, the board, President El Khatib and all my supporters in Africa for always supporting me. Alhamdulillah,” Mosimane wrote on Twitter.
Other winners for the awards included Mohamed Salah, Riyad Mahrez, Algeria head coach Djamel Belmadi, Edouard Mendy and Lassina Traore.
“Mosimane wants to continue his successful run with Al Ahly, and the club wants the head coach to stay in his position,” said Shobeir.
“Pitso fully trusts his wife, who is also his agent, to represent him in the meeting, and the most probable outcome is Mosimane’s contract renewal with a 15% or 20% salary increase.”
Mosimane will hope to lead Ahly to the CAF Super Cup next midweek, December 22, when they face Raja Casablanca in Qatar.
