Zanaco will know their 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup group stage opponents on December 28.

CAF announced on December 16 that the league phase draws for both the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League would be conducted on the last Tuesday of 2021 in Cairo, Egypt at 13h00 CAT.

Zanaco are one of two clubs from the COSAFA zone in the draws alongside Orlando Pirates of South Africa with fourteen other clubs that qualified to the league round that kicks-off in February.

The Lusaka club returns to continental group stage football next February for the first time since the 2019/2020 season when they reached the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals for the first time.

This will be the Zambian clubs fourth continental league round campaign after also qualifying for the 2010 CAF Confederation Cup, the 2017 CAF Champions League.

But Zesco United hold the Zambian record with five group stage appearances of which three were in the CAF Champions League and are the only side to have advanced to the final knockout round in one of each continental championship.

Meanwhile, Zanaco head into the group draws that includes three former champions led by record three-time winners CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.

Others are two-time champions TP Mazembe of the DR Congo and 2019/2020 winners RS Berkane of Morocco.

Pyramids of Egypt and Pirates were runners-up in 2020 and 2015 respectively.
