Former AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini has urged Ivorian star Franck Kessie to remain with the Rossoneri.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who is set to be a key man for the Elephants at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, will be out of contract with Milan at the end of the current season.
This will make Kessie a free agent from the middle of 2022 and several major clubs across the continent are clamouring to secure his services.
Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly the frontrunners, though the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with the player.
Yet Rossoneri legend Ambrosini says Kessie should consider his situation carefully and follow his heart and sporting merit, rather than the lure of great financial rewards.
“All I can say is that these clubs who can offer a higher salary aren’t of a higher level than Milan.
“The chance to bring home €8m rather than €6m should not be the priority if you are happy otherwise where you already are.
“He shouldn’t think of Milan as a club of a secondary level.”
