Senegal have confirmed that Watford winger Ismaila Sarr has linked up with the national team ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined since November 23 when he suffered a knee ligament injury in the 4-1 win over Manchester United.

The Hornets issued a statement on January 2 to clarify the situation after the The Lions of Teranga accused the club of refusing to release the player for the tournament, which runs from January 9 to February 6.

The statement added that the Senegal Football Federation (FSF) had been invited “to instruct their own independent surgeon to confirm the diagnosis and rehabilitation period.”

However, the FSF subsequently revealed that Sarr had departed for Cameroon on Tuesday to join up with the rest of Aliou Cisse’s squad for their final AFCON preparations.

The West Africans kick off the action in Group B against Zimbabwe on January 10 before taking on Guinea and Malawi.
