The Pharaohs’ Egypt have cancelled their planned friendly game against DR Congo.


Egypt were scheduled to face DR Congo in a friendly on Thursday in Cairo in what would have been their only pre-AFCON warm-up.


According to the Ahram Newspaper, the friendly was cancelled due to technical reasons and as well as a Covid-19 precaution cited by Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz.


Egypt will now train behind closed doors in Cairo until departure for Cameroon that has been moved from Friday to Saturday morning.


DR Congo on the other hand will now play a training game against Egyptian club Pyramids FC.


Meanwhile, the record seven-time AFCON champions’ kickoff their campaign on January 10 in a Group D match against three-time winners Nigeria in Garoua.


Sudan and Guinea are the other teams in Group D.
