The Super Eagles of Nigeria warmed up for their AFCON 2021 campaign on Friday with a 2-0 win over Cameroon club giants Coton Sport in a training game played in Garoua.

Friday’s practice match came just 48 hours after the three-time AFCON champions landed in Garoua from Abuja ahead of the tournament that Cameroon is hosting from January 9 to February 6.

Nigeria took a one-nil halftime lead through their captain and veteran striker Ahmed Musa.

Interim coach Austin Eguaoven then made wholesale changes at halftime from the first team that included UK-based stars Joseph Aribo of Glasgow Rangers, Watford defender William Troost-Ekong plus the Leicester City duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Second half substitute and Villarreal striker Samuel Chuwueze scored the final goal against the 16-time Cameroon league champions.

Nigeria commences their AFCON Group D campaign on January 11 against record seven-time champions Egypt.
