Super Eagles Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa says they are geared to make a statement about their AFCON 2021 ambitions starting with Tuesday’s opening Group D showdown against Egypt.
Nigeria are in Cameroon where they are chasing a fourth AFCON title but face a huge match-day-one test in Garoua on January 11 against the record seven-time winners Egypt.
“All I can say is that we are ready for the first game against Egypt. Thank God the other players we are expecting are in camp this morning and we are still expecting Collins,” Musa told the Daily Post.
Defender Collins Jamilu of German side SC Paderborn is the last player to join the Nigeria camp.
“Definitely, I talk to the players because we know what is important. This tournament, we know if we can win it, it’s going to have a big impact on our own country and families too,” Musa said
“So, we are all ready and we know what we can do. If we give all our best, I know we can win this tournament.”
Musa and Samuel Chuwueze scored for Nigeria in the first and second half respectively of the practice match.
