Andre Ayew misses Wednesday training

Black Stars Ghana captain Andre Ayew has been excused from Wednesday training in Yaounde.

Ayew said the decision to rest him from training is not because of the head injury he sustained in the Black Stars 1-0 loss to Morocco on January 10 in Yaoundé.

“I’ve not been feeling well for the past two days, but I wanted to play. My colleagues wanted me on the field so I did everything to be there,” Ayew told Myjoyonline.

Ayew played the full 90 minutes for the Black Stars opening Group C defeat at the hands of the Atlas Lions.

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac would be keeping his fingers crossed that the Ghana captain will recover in time for this Friday’s penultimate Group C match against Gabon in Yaoundé.

The Black Stars are bottom of Group C on zero points together with Comoros who also lost 1-0 to joint leaders Gabon who are tied on 3 points with Morocco.
