Ivory Coast will go head to head with Algeria in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) encounter on Thursday.

Kick-off is at 6:00 pm CAT.

This final Group E match is set to take place at the Stade Omnisport de Douala in the Cameroonian city of Douala.

The result saw Ivory Coast remain at the top of the group standings – three points above fourth-placed Algeria, who are still hoping to reach the Last 16.

A win for the Elephants against Algeria will see the two-time African champions reach the knockout phase as the group winners.

The defeat ended the Desert Foxes’ 35-match unbeaten run across all competitions and their hopes of breaking Italy’s world record of the 37-match unbeaten run ended.

The defending AFCON champions can only qualify for the Last 16 if they defeat Ivory Coast and the other results go their way.

The last meeting between Ivory Coast and Algeria was on 11 July 2019.

The two teams drew 1-1 in the 2019 AFCON quarter-final match and Algeria won 4-3 on penalties at the New Suez Stadium in Egypt.
