Africa Cup of Nations hosts Cameroon will be determined to avoid an upset when they take on debutants Comoros at the Olembe Stadium on Monday, January 24.
Kick-off is at 9pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)
The Indomitable Lions advanced to the round of 16 as Group A winners after collecting seven points from their opening three matches of the tournament.
Toni Conceicao’s side kicked off their AFCON 2021 campaign with a 2-1 win over Burkina Faso and then thrashed Ethiopia 4-1 before being held to a 1-1 draw by Cape Verde.
The five-time African champions were drawn in the same group as the Coelacanths for the qualifiers, and recorded a 3-0 victory most recently after their first-ever encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.
Amir Abdou’s men have already made history by qualifying for the showpiece event for the first time in their history. but they will be hoping to keep the dream alive for a little longer yet.
The island nation progressed to knockout stages as one of the best third-placed teams, having picked up three points from their three games in Group C.
It was made possible by their stunning 3-2 win over Ghana after losing their first two group outings against Gabon (1-0) and Morocco (2-0).
