Senegal will lock horns with their WAFU rivals, Cape Verde, in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations match on Tuesday.

Kick-off is at 6:00 pm CAT.

This Last 16 encounter is scheduled to take place at the Stade Omnisports de Bafoussam in the Cameroonian city of Bafoussam.

The Lions of Teranga secured their spot in the knockout phase as Group B winners having recorded two draws and one win which was against Zimbabwe.

Aliou Cisse, the Senegal head coach, is under pressure to lead the West African side to the quarter-finals and AFCON title as they are the tournament favourites.

Senegal will once again look to Sadio Mane who has scored once thus far in this year’s tournament and the Liverpool FC forward will be keen to inspire his nation to a win over the Blue Sharks.

Meanwhile, Cape Verde booked their spot in the knockout phase for the second time in the history of the AFCON finals as one of the four best third-placed teams having finished third in Group A.

Their head coach Bubista is looking to become the second Cape Verde head coach to guide the Blue Sharks to the AFCON quarter-finals after Lucio Antunes, who achieved this at the 2015 tournament.

Garry Rodrigues is the player to watch out for in this Blue Sharks side with the Olympiacos Piraeus attacker having netted a crucial goal against tournament hosts, Cameroon.

The last meeting between Senegal and Cape Verde was on 8 June 2021.

Senegal emerged 2-0 winners in an international friendly match at Stade Lat Dior in Thies.
