Watford winger Ismaila Sarr has made a surprise return to Senegal’s AFCON 2021 camp after receiving retreatment back in Europe for a long-term knee injury.
Sarr earlier left Senegal’s pre-AFCON camp in Cameroon for specialist treatment in Spain after undergoing an assessment by the teams’ doctors who wanted a second opinion on his fitness status that led to a tense situation with the English club over his call-up.
He returned to the Senegal camp prior to Tuesday night’s 2-0 win over Cape Verde in Bafoussam.
The 23-year-old winger has been out of action since November 20.
Sarr is now expected to be considered for selection for Senegal’s quarterfinal match on January 30 against the winner of today’s last 16 date between Equatorial Guinea and Mali.
