Zanaco midfielder Salulani Phiri admits they need to rediscover their winning touch ahead of February’s looming kickoff of the 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup group stage campaign.
The Lusaka club are Zambia’s lone continental league stage campaigners and kickoff their CAF Confederation Cup Group A campaign on February 13.
Even though Zanaco are unbeaten since the start of 2022, they have produced a patchy domestic run in January in which they have one win and drawn their last four league games.
“CAF games are different from league games but it is football and we need to prepare ourselves,” Salulani said.
“We need to start winning in the league so that we get the confidence.
“We are going back into the CAF games so we must have the mentality of winning.
“For now we need to win some games here and when we go into CAF games it will be easy for us.”
Zanaco are in Group A where they will face an all-North African cast led by record three-time CAF Confederation Cup champions CS Sfaxien.
Sfaxien are also Zanaco’s first opponents on February 13 away in Tunisia.
Egyptian club Pyramids and Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya complete Group A.
