Senegal will battle it out with Equatorial Guinea in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) encounter on Sunday.


Kick-off is at 9:00 pm CAT.


This quarter-final match is scheduled to take place at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo in the Cameroonian city of Yaounde.




The Lions of Teranga reached this stage of the tournament after claiming a 2-0 win over Cape Verde in their Round of 16 game which was played on Tuesday.


Bamba Dieng, the Senegal forward, is slowly establishing himself as one of the Senegalese side’s key attackers and he could fire Senegal to the semi-finals.


Dieng, who is on the book of French giants Olympiqye Marseille, scored the Lions of Teranga’s second goal in their win over Cape Verde.


Meanwhile, Equatorial Guinea advanced to the quarter-finals following their 6-5 win over Mali on penalties in their Round of 16 game which took place on Wednesday.


Pablo Ganet, the Equatorial Guinea midfielder, has been one of the most consistent players in this National Thunder side in Cameroon.


Spain-based midfield maestro Ganet was named Man of the Match after the clash with Mali and he will be keen to inspire his nation to a win over Senegal.


The last meeting between Senegal and Equatorial Guinea was on 17 November 2018.



Senegal claimed a 1-0 win over Equatorial Guinea in the 2019 AFCON qualifier which was played at the Estadio de Bata in Bata.
