Zesco United coach Mumamba Numba explains the qualities that led him to sign attacking midfielder Collins Sikombe.
The Chipolopolo midfielder joined the defending FAZ Super League champions on February 1 on a two- and-half year deal.
Sikombe moved to Zesco less than a season after joining struggling Lusaka Dynamos from Napsa Stars following the latter’s demotion to the FAZ National First Division at the end of the 2020/2021 campaign.
He was also Chipolopolo Zambia’s top scorer in the 2020/2021 season with 8 goals.
“Sikombe is a utility player and he is one player who can play in many positions. That is the good part about him,” Numba said.
“It is good to have such players in the team because every time you have a position you have doubts on, then you can fuse him there and he can give you his best.”
Sikombe is set to make his Zesco debut this Saturday when the league champions visit Kansanshi Dynamos in Solwezi.
He is one of four January transfer window signings made by Zesco.
They include Angolan striker Pedro Miguel who joined from second tier side Trident FC where he scored 14 goals from seventeen matches this season for the FAZ National First Division club.
Midfielder Francis Banda joins Zesco from City of Lusaka and is the nine-time Zambian league champions’ other signing from a second tier team.
2017 AFCON U20 winning defender Shemmy Mayembe completes the January arrivals list and has rejoined Zesco after two seasons in Ukraine.
