New Mamelodi Sundowns signing Erwin Saavedra has revealed he signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the DStv Premiership champions.

The 25-year-old midfielder was announced as one of four new arrivals at Chloorkop during the January transfer window and he is expected to be officially unveiled by the Brazilians on Thursday.

Saavedra will reunite with Gaston Sirino at Sundowns, having played alongside the Uruguayan forward at former club Bolivar back home.

The Bolivia international said he spoke to Sirino about the transfer and added that his fellow South American will be crucial in helping him settle in Pretoria.

“My contract is for two and a half years but if the club wants, it can be extended for another two more,” Saavedra told Premium Sports.

“I am the perfect age to be able to go out and I must take advantage of it. I think that these things do not happen very often and I hope that everything goes well.

“I want to continue growing as a footballer and as a person, take advantage of it, enjoy myself and I hope that later on, more players will go abroad.

“It will be very important and the need will force me to learn English. It will be a nice experience. I had contact with Gaston and he is going to lend me a hand in whatever way he can.”
