Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi has told his players to go out there and express themselves in Saturday’s big Copperbelt derby away to Zesco United.
The record 13-time Zambian champions take a 30 minute drive from Kitwe to Ndola to face the current FAZ Super League title holders on February 19 in a top four clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Zesco are third on 38 points while Nkana are two points behind them heading into the final leg league installment of this seasons’ Copperbelt derby.
Red Arrows and Green Eagles complete the top four on 43 and 39 points respectively.
“All we need to do is to focus and make sure we don’t drop points. It is not easy to be at the top but it is easier when you are picking up points especially away from home,” Chambeshi said.
“These are the games that we enjoy playing against, big teams like Zesco. It is not about the coach, it is about the players to make their case.”
Nkana have won their last two league meetings against Zesco winning 1-0 last October in Kitwe and by the same margin in Ndola in the final leg meeting of the 2020/2021 season.
Meanwhile, Nkana have not lost away in the Copperbelt derby to Zesco since 2015 when they were beaten 5-3.
Since then, Nkana have won an impressive five successive league meetings at Levy but Zesco have won three, drawn one and lost one on the road in Kitwe.
