Zamalek head coach Patrice Carteron insists their CAF Champions League challenge is not dead and buried after the goalless draw against Sagrada Esperanca on Saturday.
Carteron’s side failed to break down the Angolan outfit at Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, which left them third in Group D on two points, two behind leaders Petro de Luanda.
The Egyptian champions could only manage a 2-2 draw at home to the Tricolores on matchday one and their trip to Wydad Casablanca on February 26 has taken on extra significance.
Carteron is convinced the White Knights can come away from Morocco with victory to re-ignite their hopes of reaching the knockout stages of the competition.
“I am confident of the players’ ability to achieve a positive result in the game against Morocco’s Wydad,” the Frenchman said in the post-match press conference.
“It is not a matter to give more promises now because it will not be useful as the most important thing now is to start preparations for the coming games.
“Zamalek’s chances to reach the quarter-finals are still alive as we played only two games.”
