The 19th round of the GladAfrica Championship sees Venda Football Academy attempting to leapfrog Richards Bay and JDR Stars into pole position in midweek.

League leaders Richards Bay host Jomo Cosmos at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in one of four matches taking place on Tuesday afternoon. The Natal Rich Boyz played out to a goalless draw with JDR Stars on Saturday, which saw the two teams remain deadlocked on 33 points at the top of the table. Ezenkosi held Uthongathi to a 1-1 draw at the weekend to climb out of the basement up to 15th position.

JDR Stars will attempt to take sole ownership of top spot when they face TTM at Thohoyandou Stadium. The stalemate with Richards Bay last time out extended the Hammer Boys’ unbeaten run to three games, while Vhadau Vha Damani dropped to 13th in the standings after suffering their third defeat in a row with the 2-1 reverse at home to University of Pretoria.

Uthongathi will be looking to get their promotion push back on track when they take on University of Pretoria at the Princess Magogo Stadium. The Cane Cutters dropped to seventh following a 1-1 draw with Cosmos on Saturday to stretch their winless run to six encounters. AmaTuks picked up their first win in six outings when they beat TTM 2-1 on the road to move up to fifth, three points shy of the promotion places.

Cape Town Spurs will aim to keep the momentum going when they welcome Free State Stars to Parow Park. The 11th-placed Urban Warriors claimed just their seventh point away from home with the goalless draw against TS Sporting in Mpumalanga at the weekend, which saw them go six games without defeat in the league. Ea Lla Koto fell to eighth spot after losing 1-0 to Cape Town All Stars on Saturday.

Wednesday’s round of fixtures pits Venda Football Academy against Pretoria Callies at the BidVest Stadium. Johnny Ferreira’s side edged Polokwane City 3-2 on Sunday to make it back-to-back wins as they closed to within two points of the top-two. The Romans put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory over Black Leopards on the same day to climb up to 12th in the table, five points clear of the bottom-two.

Cape Town All Stars will seek to pile more misery on Black Leopards when they clash at Thohoyandou Stadium. Igugu Lekapa ran out 1-0 victors over Free State Stars on Saturday to make it three wins from four in the league to go fourth in the standings. Lidoda Duvha find themselves rooted to the foot of the table after the defeat to Pretoria Callies extended their winless streak to five games.

Polokwane City will target a return to winning ways when they lock horns with Hungry Lions at the Sivos Training Centre Stadium. Rise And Shine’s home loss to Venda Football Academy halted a two-match unbeaten run and saw them drop to sixth place, while the Northern Cape outfit thrashed Platinum City Rovers 4-0 on Sunday to record their first win in three encounters.

TS Sporting will go in search of their first three-point haul in six games when they square up to Platinum City Rovers at Olen Park. Abantu Bemthetho arrested a four-match losing streak with the goalless draw at home to Cape Town Spurs on Saturday, which put them two points clear of the relegation places in 14th position.
