Baroka FC and Summerfield Dynamos progressed to this season’s Nedbank Cup quarter-finals after recording wins on Sunday.

Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele defeated TS Galaxy 5-3 win on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the Last 16 match which was played at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The hard-fought victory earned Baroka a spot in the quarter-finals of the South African FA Cup as they avenged their 1-0 loss to Galaxy in a DStv Premiership match on March 5.

Galaxy, who won this tournament in 2019, crashed out of the tournament following the narrow defeat.

Meanwhile, Summerfield Dynamos claimed a 1-0 win over fellow ABC Motsepe League side Black Eagles in the Last 16 match at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban.

As a result, the KwaZulu-Natal side progressed to the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup Cup for the first time.

While Eagles bowed out of the tournament despite having been the better side on the day having created many goalscoring opportunities which they failed to convert.

Therefore, Baroka and Dynamos joined the University of Pretoria, Mamelodi Sundowns, Marumo Gallants, Royal AM, SuperSport United and Tshakhuma in the quarter-finals.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place next week.
