The battle for promotion remains closely contested as the top-four teams are separated by just three points going into game week 22 of the GladAfrica Championship.

University of Pretoria have a chance to go level with Richards Bay at the top of the table when they host Free State Stars at the Tuks Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

AmaTuks occupy third place on 35 points after a 2-0 win away to Platinum City Rovers extended their unbeaten run to four outings. Ea Lla Koto trail them by four points in seventh spot following successive draws against Pretoria Callies (2-2) and Uthongathi (0-0).

Fifth-placed Cape Town All Stars will be looking to enter into the equation when Platinum City Rovers visit  Parow Park.

Igugu Lekapa closed to within four points of the summit with a 1-1 draw at TS Sporting which saw them go undefeated in their last nine encounters. Rovers are down in ninth position after suffering their third defeat in four games.

Venda Football Academy will attempt to get their own promotion challenge back on track when they take on Uthongathi at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

Sixth-placed Venda are winless in their last three matches after a 1-1 draw at home to JDR Stars left them five points adrift of the league leaders. The Cane Cutters trail their midweek opponents by four points in eighth spot, having stretched their winless streak to nine games with a goalless draw against  Free States.

Tenth plays 11th when Hungry Lions welcome TTM to the Sivos Training Centre Stadium, with Vhadau Vha Damani seeking their third win on the spin which will see them leapfrog the hosts, who are two points better off but without a win in their last three matches.

Pretoria Callies welcome TS Sporting to the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, with both teams tied on 21 points at the wrong end of the table.

The Romans are in 13th position after a 2-1 loss away to TTM left them without a win in three outings, while Abantu Bemthetho find themselves in 14th spot following a third draw in four encounters which took them four points clear of the bottom two.

Wednesday sees three of the top-four teams in action as leaders Richards Bay face rock-bottom Black Leopards at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

The Natal Rich Boyz have opened up a three-point gap on the chasing pack after a goalless draw at home to Polokwane City stretched their unbeaten streak to 16 matches. Lidoda Duvha held Hungry LIons to a 0-0 stalemate, but the point wasn’t good enough to take them off the foot of the table.

Polokwane City will look to keep the pressure on the front-runners when they take on strugglers Jomo Cosmos at the Tsakane Stadium.

Rise And Shine moved up to second position after they claimed a point against Richards Bay, while 15th-placed Ezenkosi recorded their fifth successive draw to remain a point ahead of Black Leopards.

JDR Stars will be determined to snap a four-match winless run when they entertain Cape Town Spurs at the Giant Stadium.

The Hammer Boys dropped down to fourth spot after claiming their third draw in four games with a point against Venda Football Academy. The 12th-placed Urban Warriors are also without a win in their last four matches after they drew 1-1 with Jomo Cosmos to maintain a five-point cushion to the bottom two.
