Orlando Pirates stole a dramatic 3-2 win over SuperSport United at Orlando Stadium in the last of three DStv Premiership matches played on Wednesday 16 March.

The Buccaneers fought back from two goals down thanks to a brace of penalties from Deon Hotto, before Goodman Mosele struck deep in injury time at the end of the game to secure an unlikely victory. The Soweto side move level on points with Kaizer Chiefs, though remain in fourth place and have played four more matches than their arch rivals.

Matsatsantsa, meanwhile, are seventh – six points behind Pirates – and will wonder how they ended up losing this game after going 2-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes through Kegan Johannes and Ghampani Lungu.

The early kick-off at the Peter Mokaba Stadium saw Chippa United end Marumo Gallants’ winning streak by holding out for a 0-0 draw – and a valuable away point in their fight against relegation.

The same could be said for Maritzburg United, who fought back from a goal down to hold Sekhukhune United 1-1 at Ellis Park.

Rodrick Kabwe put Babina Noko 1-0 up in just the second minute thanks to a howler from Marcel Engelhardt, but the goalkeeper went on to make several excellent saves through the remainder of the game, and Keegan Ritchie’s superb equaliser before half time secured a share of the spoils for the Team of Choice.

The DStv Premiership will continue with four matches across Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March, headlined by Kaizer Chiefs hosting Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium.
