Ex-Chipolopolo physician Doctor Joseph Kabungo died on Tuesday evening while on duty as a doping officer at the end of the Nigeria-Ghana game in Abuja.
Unconfirmed reports have indicated that Dr Kabungo collapsed in the midst of the post-match chaos after Nigeria failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
An Official statement on the incident has not yet been issued.
The match ended 1-1 that saw the Black Stars qualify on away goals rule by the same aggregate score line.
Dr Kabungo was a member of both the CAF and FIFA Medical Committees.
He was part of the Chipolopolo backroom staff that won the 2012 AFCON and served as Zambia team Doctor from 2005 to 2016.
Dr Kabungo last tournament appointment was at 2022 AFCON in Cameroon where he also served as a doping officer.
