According to reports, Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane is looking to bring Arthur Zwane to the Cairo club as an assistant coach.

Zwane is currently Stuart Baxter’s second assistant at Kaizer Chiefs, though it is believed that the former winger is keen on a change of scenery.

The Citizen quotes a source who claims that Mosimane wants Zwane to take up the assistant role formerly held by Cavin Johnson.

“Pitso has mentioned to him that he would like to have him come work with him in Egypt,” said the source.

“He does not have a second assistant since Cavin left last season. I believe he is waiting on the Al Ahly management’s response to his request to bring in another assistant.”

Zwane helped steer Chiefs to a runners-up finish in the 2020-21 CAF Champions League, where they were beaten 3-0 in the final by Mosimane’s Ahly.

Mosimane and Ahly will also be looking to seal the final Champions League quarterfinal berth up for grabs when they face Al Hilal in Cairo this coming weekend.

The Red Devils need only avoid defeat to finish second in Group A and join Mamelodi Sundowns, Raja Casablanca, ES Setif, Esperance de Tunis, CR Belouizdad, Wydad Casablanca and Petro de Luanda in next week’s quarterfinal draw.
