The 2022 ABSA Cup final between Red Arrows and Napsa Stars has been rescheduled from April 16 to April 30.
FAZ confirmed the date change in a statement on Tuesday but added that the venue remains National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.
The rescheduling is to facilitate Zambian president Hakainde Hichilema’s presence as guest of honour at the ABSA Cup final.
This will be the first match President Hichilema will grace as official guest following his election in August 2021.
“Following consultations with the sponsor and other stakeholders, we wish to notify members of the public that the much-anticipated Absa Cup final between Red Arrows and Napsa Stars has been pushed forward to April 30, 2022,” FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala said in a statement.
Arrows and Napsa are each eyeing second ABSA Cup triumphs after winning the competition in 2013 and 2012 respectively.
Promotion chasing Napsa are also hoping to become the first FAZ National Division One side to win the ABSA Cup.
