Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane is backing his team to get the desired result against Raja Casablanca at the Mohamed V Stadium on Friday to advance to the CAF Champions League semifinals.
The Red Eagles recorded a 2-1 win in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie at the WE Al Salam Stadium last weekend, thanks to early goals from Amr El Soleya (13′ pen) and Hussein El Shahat (23′).
The Green Eagles halved the deficit through Mohamed Azrida on the stroke of half time to give themselves a chance of coming back in the second leg on home soil.
Mosimane felt the defending champions should have put the game to bed in Cairo after seeing them squander numerous opportunities to further extend their lead.
However, the South African tactician has faith in his players to get the job done in Casablanca, although he admits Raja will not make it easy for them.
“There are few elements that I will discuss with my players. We had the opportunity to kill the tie tonight,” Mosimane said.
“The second leg will be a very difficult game for us. We will go there and win in Morocco. I trust my team and I believe in my team.
“We are a good team. All we have to do is to go to Morocco and avoid conceding a goal then we need to score a goal. We must defend our lead. We have two opportunities. If we did not score, we must keep a clean sheet.”
