Raja Casablanca and Esperance de Tunis’ CAF Champions League journeys came to an end on Friday after Al Ahly and ES Setif booked their tickets to the semifinals.

Defending champions Al Ahly took a step closer to a historic third straight title after a 1-1 draw with Raja Casablanca at the Mohammed V Stadium saw them advance 3-2 on aggregate.

Fabrice Ngoma gave the hosts hope when he opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but Mohamed Abdelmonem equalised in the 44th minute to secure the Red Eagles’ passage into the last four following their 2-1 win in the first leg.

Meanwhile, ES Setif kept their African dream alive with a shock 1-0 victory over Esperance de Tunis in the second leg at the Hammadi Agrebi Stadium.

After the first leg had finished goalless in Algiers, Abdelmoumene Djabou fired the Black Eagles in front on 21 minutes and they held on to remain in the hunt for a third title.

The action continues on Saturday with Mamelodi Sundowns hosting Petro de Luanda at the FNB Stadium, while Wydad Casablanca welcome CR Belouizdad to the Mohammed V Stadium.
