Napsa Stars made history on Saturday when they beat Red Arrows 1-0 to lift the 2022 ABSA Cup at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Their triumph in the Lusaka derby cup final means they are the first second tier club to win the ABSA Cup and also the only side to lift it in both top and lower divisions of the FAZ League.

Striker Chaniza Zulu scored the games’ lone goal in the minute to hand Napsa their second ABSA Cup title since 2012 when they interestingly won it in the same season they were promoted following a 21-year hiatus from the FAZ Super League.

Saturday’s result also denied Arrows the double a week after they sealed the 2021/2022FAZ Super League title with a game in hand.

For Napsa though, the ABSA Cup victory crowns their return to the FAZ Super League next season following their demotion in the 2019/2020 campaign.
