With Orlando Pirates reaching the final of the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday night, Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane sent a heartfelt message to the Sea Robbers.
The Soweto giants faced Al Ahli Tripoli in their CAF Confederations Cup semi-final fixture and played the second-leg on Sunday at the Orlando Stadium.
In the first-leg, goals from Innocent Maela and Goodman Mosele at the Martyrs of February Stadium saw Pirates take a 2-0 aggregate lead back to South Africa. Al Ahly Tripoli managed to beat the Buccaneers on their own patch with the solitary strike, however, their 1-0 win was not enough on the night.
Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane took to his Twitter account in wishing Pirates well as he mentioned that he tipped the South African side to go all the way to the final.
“I want to congratulate my fellow South African team for making CAF Confederation Cup final,” Mosimane tweeted.
“When I conducted the CAF draw, I tipped them to make the final. Thank for making it true.”
Mosimane and his side are on the brink of history, after Al Ahly managed to reach the CAF Champions League final for the third year running.
Ahly will now face Wydad Casablanca in the final on May 30, following their 6-2 aggregate win over ES Setif on Saturday. Should the Egyptians win, they will become the first team to win three successive titles.
