As the current football heads towards its closure, Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena gave his opinion on the ‘future of football’.

The Brazilians will continue their DStv Premiership campaign today, after their game against Royal AM was abandoned on Saturday due to bad weather.

Ahead of the tie, Sundowns confirmed that there was an influenza outbreak in the team, without mentioning who the affected players were. As they conclude their league campaign, the Brazilians now shift their focus to the upcoming Nedbank Cup final where they will face Marumo Gallants at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday, May 28.

That said, Mokwena took to his Twitter handle yesterday where he analysed the conclusion of the English Premier League title race.

As Manchester City pipped Liverpool to clinch the trophy on the final matchday, the Downs mentor was in awe of the dramatic climax to the campaign and mentioned that the modern game will be shaped by the English giants.

“Just pause for a sec and appreciate the incredible blessing of living through an era that football won’t see for a long time,” Mokwena tweeted.

“Two great teams, two great group of players and two incredible managers. The future of football will be heavy shaped by what we witnessing.”
