Swallows eye winning start against All Stars

Swallows FC will host Cape Town All Stars in their maiden match in the 2021-22 PSL promotion/relegation playoffs at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 15h00 CAT.

Amaswaiswai are keen to start their playoffs campaign with a win having secured their spot in this competition after finishing 15th on the 2021-22 DStv Premiership log.

There, the Soweto giants avoided direct relegation to the second tier of South African football, GladAfrica Championship.

Swallows are winless in their last four matches having recorded one defeat and three successive draws including their 2-2 draw with Kaizer Chiefs on the final day of the top-flight season.

Meanwhile, All Stars got their playoffs campaign off to a losing start as they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to fellow GladAfrica Championship side the University of Pretoria at home on Sunday.

The defeat extended Igugu Ikapa’s winless run to three matches across all competitions and they currently placed third on the playoffs standings.

This will be the third meeting between Swallows and All Stars across all competitions.

The two teams met twice during the 2015-16 National First Division (NFD) season with All Stars winning 2-0 in Cape Town in the first round clash and they drew 0-0 in Soweto.
