Former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has been persuaded to join Djiboutian champions Arta Solar 7 on a short-term contract.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since leaving Brazilian outfit Botafogo in April 2021 and will ply his trade on the continent for the first time in his professional career.
Kalou came up through the youth ranks at ASEC Mimosas before being snapped up by Feyenoord in 2003 and going on to spend the next 17 years playing in Europe.
The Ivorian, who scored 27 goals in 93 appearances for the Elephants, made a name for himself at Stamford Bridge, winning seven trophies including the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
Arta Solar 7 are preparing to compete in the CAF Champions League next season after securing the domestic double in 2021/22.
They have recruited a host of former African stars in a bid to reach the group stages of the competition for the first time in their history.
Kalou will link up with Idriss Carlos Kameni, Alexandre Song Billong, Dany Nounkeu, Diafra Sakho and Alain Traore at the El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium.
