Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr was full of praise after guiding his team to safety in the recent PSL promotion playoffs after the Dube Birds saw off the University of Pretoria and Cape Town All Stars in a gruelling mini-tournament.
The Dube Birds faced the University of Pretoria on Wednesday, June 15, in the final PSL Promotion playoff fixture. Heading into the tie, AmaTuks needed a draw to gain promotion to the PSL, while Swallows required maximum points to retain their status in South Africa’s top flight.
In a tacky affair at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium, it was Yagan Tasman’s effort in the 61st minute that was the deciding goal in the tie. As AmaTuks pushed late on, coach Dylan Kerr’s men held on much to the delight of the supporters in attendance.
Taking to his Twitter account, Kerr thanked supporters for their well wishes while extending a heartfelt message in the process.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their amazing well wishes,” Kerr tweeted.
“In what was a very tough 6 months, as a player & coach I know what it takes to be a winner.
“Being honest to your job trust yourself & others to be the best you can be.”
