Despite leaving Al Ahly before their 2-2 draw against Zamalek in the Cairo Derby, coach Pitso Mosimane was blamed for the result according to a former Egypt national team assistant coach.
Mosimane parted ways with the Egyptian giants following their 2-0 loss to Wydad Casablanca in the CAF Champions League final on May 30. Al Ahly appointed Samy Komsan on an interim basis thereafter, as he began his spell with a 4-1 win against Easter Company ahead of the Cairo Derby this past weekend.
With the game played at the Al-Salam Stadium Cairo stadium, Ahly and Zamalek shared the spoils come the end of the 90 minutes.
In analysing the game, former Egypt national team assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed blamed Mosimane for the club’s fitness levels and that Al Ahly committed too many mistakes in the tie.
“Al Ahly players appeared in poor shape during the second half, Mosimane is the one to blame for it,” Diaa told Al-Hayah TV channel, as per KingFut.
“The game saw a lot of mistakes from both sides.
“Things like that shouldn’t have happened in such a big game between two big clubs.”
