Koulibaly ‘closer’ to joining Barcelona

According to reports in Spain, Senegal star Kalidou Koulibaly could be on his way to Barcelona as the defender becomes hot property in the current transfer window.

In what has been a hot topic throughout his career, Koulibaly is once again linked with a move away from Napoli with a number of clubs reportedly lining up for his signature.

Earlier this month, It was believed that Chelsea were showing interest in the towering center-back and that the London-based club are looking to fill the gaps left by Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

With one year left on his current deal, it’s been reported that talks of a new deal at Napoli have broken down, hence the latest transfer links.

According to Spanish publication, SPORT, the 31-year-old is closer to joining Barcelona with Xavi looking to strengthen his defence department.

However, the same report suggests that Barcelona are prioritising the signing of Jules Kounde but will look to sign Koulibaly nonetheless.

It appears that the Catalan club will be addressing their central defensive area in the current transfer window as the likes of Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet and Oscar Mingueza face uncertain futures.
