With Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool yet to be decided, a Reds legend has claimed that the club won’t break the bank to keep hold of the Egyptian and likened the situation to that of Sadio Mane’s, who recently joined Bayern Munich.

Liverpool has been one of the busiest clubs in the current transfer market, as the Premier League giants gear up for the 2022/23 campaign.

In what was news that made headlines, the six-time UEFA Champions League winners recently signed Uruguayan star Darwin Nunez with the 22-year-old said to be one of the most sought after young strikers in Europe today.

On the outgoings list, Mane touched base in Germany, having signed for Bayern Munich in a deal said to be worth around £35million.

Now though, club legend Robbie Fowler has mentioned that the club won’t be breaking their wage structure to keep Salah and that he doesn’t blame the attacker for wanting to take home more money.

I won’t pretend to know what’s going on with his contract but clearly the answer is: nothing much,” Fowler said in writing for the Mirror.

“And that leaves so many questions unanswered. One thing is obvious, the club has done some very clear, precise and unemotional calculations with Mane.

“He’s 31 in April, has a huge amount of running in his legs, and wanted a huge contract as one of the best players in the world

“Again, I don’t know all the answers, but what screams out to me so clearly, is they won’t be breaking their wage structure to keep him.

“If they were prepared to do that, it would have happened by now. But look, I can’t blame Salah for wanting the going rate, just like Mane did.”
