Inter Milan recently announced the signing of Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana and speaking about the move, the 26-year-old highlighted Samuel Eto’o’s influence in choosing the Italian giants.
Inter unveiled Onana as one of their latest recruits as they look to shape up for the upcoming 2022/23 season. After rejecting a contract extension at Ajax Amsterdam, Onana now joins Inter on a free transfer.
Along with Onana, Inter also revealed Henrik Mkhitaryan, Kristjan Asllani, Joaquin Correa and Romelu Lukaku ahead of the new campaign.
That said, Onana described Inter as a great club and that he had no doubts about the move. He also went on to reveal the advice he heeded by the Cameroonian legend.
“I have a fantastic relationship with Eto’o, and we even played together at San Siro,” Onana said as per Inter’s official website. We’ve talked about Inter on several occasions, both when I was on international duty and at other times, too.
“He always spoke very highly of this club and told me that Inter would be perfect for me given the way I play. That’s why when I heard about the offer from Inter – a great club that was interested in me – I never had any doubts. Being here is fantastic, I’m really happy.”
