Promising South African midfielder Ethan Brooks has said that Bafana Bafana should have a ‘winning mentality’ in defending their COSAFA Cup crown in the upcoming tournament.
In getting their 2022 COSAFA Cup campaign underway, South Africa will face Mozambique in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, July 13.
The tournament will take place in Durban from 4-17 July, with games set to be played at the King Zwelithini, Princess Magogo and Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the showpiece, the popular midfielder explained the value of winning the COSAFA Cup and they will come up against much bigger opponents.
“It was a great experience for me last year,” Brooks told the SAFA Media department, as per the Sowetan Live.
“It was very great for me… I got to learn a lot from older players and the tournament itself.
“Going into this one, I got guys my age and it will also be a great experience for them as well. We are going to play against guys bigger and older than us but it will be a great.”
“I think we had a winning mentality from day one; when we walked in everyone understood what we wanted to achieve.
“And that was going into the tournament to win it and I feel like that should be our mandate as well going into this one, to defend the title.”
