With Kalidou Koulibaly said to be heading to the Premier League, its been reported that Napoli could look to sign Eric Bailly with the Ivorian linked with a move away from Manchester United.
As mentioned, Koulibaly has strongly been linked with a move to London-based club Chelsea, as the 31-year-old takes the next step in his career. The Senegalese star has long been linked with a move away from Italy, as clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are said to have shown interest in his progress in recent years.
Earlier this week, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported that the centre-back is close to joining Chelsea as a marquee signing for Thomas Tuchel.
Now though, Inside Futbol reports that Napoli have enquired at the possibility of signing Bailly, with the Ivory Coast star falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The report suggests that the Red Devils are ‘open’ to selling the robust defender as new manager Erik Ten Hag looks to reshape his defensive department ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Bailly has been a constant feature for United during their pre-season preparations and has put in a couple of solid displays for the English giants so far.
That said, the Italian side are yet to make any formal bid for the former Villarreal star but as Inside Futbol reports, the club are tracking Bailly’s situation ‘closely’.
