Monday’s 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations action saw Senegal and Cameroon keep their hopes alive of qualifying for next year’s World Cup.

Senegal progressed to the inter-continental playoffs after they beat Tunisia 4-2 on penalties following a goalless 90 minutes at Stade Mohammed V.

Korka Fall kept her nerve to score the decisive spot-kick, having seen Tunisia duo Mariem Houij and Ghada Ayadi fail to convert from 12 yards out, while Hapsatou Diallo missed for the Lionesses of Teranga.

The West Africans will be joined by Cameroon, who clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Botswana at Stade Moulay Hassan.

Ajara Nchout’s strike in first-half stoppage time was enough to secure a playoff spot for the Indomitable Lionesses despite having to play the final seven minutes with just 10 players after Fadimatou Aretouyap was red-carded.

Meanwhile, WAFCON hosts Morocco will battle it out with defending champions Nigeria on Monday for a place in the final and South Africa face Zambia in the other semi-final.

Monday’s WAFCON results:

Senegal 0-0 Tunisia (4-2 on pens)

Botswana 0-1 Cameroon
