Bafana captain on Downs move: ‘I feel at home’

After making his mega move to Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams mentioned that he already feels at home and that he is happy to join one of the most prestigious clubs in Africa.


In what was news that made waves in South African football in the last 48 hours, Williams finally made the switch to the Brazilians.


After spending 18 years with SuperSport United, Williams signed a five-year deal with Sundowns, as the club look to shape up ahead of the 2022/23 football season. Speaking on the move, the Bafana captain said that he is looking forward to winning silverware and that he will give his utmost best to the team.


“I feel amazing, there is a lot of excitement, finally I’m here,” Williams said according to the Sundowns official website.


“I’m happy to be part of such a prestigious team in South Africa and in Africa as a whole, I feel at home already.


“Sundowns has a wonderful record of adding trophies, I am looking forward to adding to the trophy cabinet. I have seen the Yellow Nation at the stadium,


“I’ve witnessed the atmosphere that they create for the players, they really are the 12th man and I’m excited to play for them – I am going to give my utmost best.”
